Are you tired of dips that are all flavor and no fuel? Meet your new obsession: the High-Protein "Monster Mash" Dip! Taking inspiration from the bodybuilding staple (a hearty mix of beef and rice) and turning it into a ridiculously addictive, cheesy, and protein-packed appetizer.
This dip is perfect for game day, a post-workout refuel, or simply when you're craving something warm, savory, and satisfying. The secret to the incredible texture and protein boost? A blend of low-fat cottage cheese and lean ground meat. Trust us, your guests (and your muscles) will thank you!
🔪 Ingredients
This recipe is simple to put together and uses ingredients you can find in any grocery store.
Ingredient | Quantity | Notes |
Lean Ground Beef or Turkey | 1 lb (approx. 450g) | Use 93% lean or higher for best macros. |
Low-Fat Cottage Cheese | 1 cup | The protein-boosting base! Don't worry, we'll blend it. |
Reduced-Fat Cream Cheese | 4 oz (half a block) | Adds creamy richness. |
Monterey Jack or Cheddar (Reduced-Fat) | 1/2 cup | For that classic cheesy pull. |
Rotel Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies | 1 can (10 oz), undrained | Drains liquid from the can, it’s not needed. |
Taco Seasoning | 1-2 Tbsp | To taste, adjust for spice preference. |
Onion Powder | 1/2 tsp | |
Garlic Powder | 1/2 tsp | |
Salt & Pepper | To taste |
Optional Toppings & Dippers:
Chopped Green Onion or Cilantro
Hot Sauce (we love Cholula or a smoky Chipotle)
Reduced-Fat Tortilla Chips
Celery sticks, bell pepper slices, or cucumber for a low-carb option
👩🍳 Instructions: Mash, Mix, and Melt!
1. Prep the Meat
Brown the ground beef or turkey in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease thoroughly.
Once cooked, stir in the Taco Seasoning, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Salt, and Pepper. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Stir in the drained Rotel tomatoes. Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.
2. Create the Creamy Base
In a food processor or blender, combine the Cottage Cheese and Cream Cheese.
Blend until the cottage cheese curds are completely smooth and the mixture is a creamy, dip-like consistency. This step eliminates the 'curd' texture and makes it magically smooth!
3. Mash It All Together
Pour the smooth, creamy cheese mixture into the skillet with the seasoned meat.
Stir well to combine everything into a uniform "mash."
4. Bake & Melt
Sprinkle the Reduced-Fat Shredded Cheese evenly over the top of the dip.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes, or until the dip is bubbling around the edges and the top cheese is melted and slightly golden. Alternatively, you can cover and microwave until hot and cheesy.
5. Serve and Devour!
Garnish with your favorite toppings (green onion, cilantro, hot sauce).
Serve hot directly from the skillet with tortilla chips, cut vegetables, or even spread it on toast!
